Engagement Photo Fun

Crossing Kearny Beneath the Columbus Tower.

Very rarely in life, unless you are an actor or musician, do you get the opportunity to get to run around a city with a professional photographer. Yeah, we all have those silly prom photos and senior pictures that become an obsessive chapter in our high school lives. Outside of that, most of us get to wrangle the services of a photographer for weddings and the occasional family photograph session.

Last week, we both got to jaunt around North Beach with our wedding photographer, Allyson Wiley. Interesting story: when I first met Melinda, Allyson was a roomie, living together in their Pine Street Pacific Heights apartment. The hard work to make a good impression on Melinda also meant I had to impress all of her roommates, including Allyson. There are a few people out there I have the fortune to have known since the beginning (the Pine Street days) and Allyson is one of them.

Our time with Allyson last week was an incredible. Her photography aesthetic is heavily influenced in a documentary style that is refreshing and visually inspiring. Doorways and brightly-painted walls all become her photographic canvas. It was truly an exciting moment to open up her email and see all of her work, and all the beautiful pictures with Melinda for the first time. And I get to realize a lifelong dream of submitting an awesome picture for the Elkhorn Independent Newspaper’s ‘engagement’ section.

Needless to say, we are very excited and lucky to have Allyson be a part of our special little wedding on October 1.
